Layla supports combining speech-to-text and text-to-speech to conduct a voice chat with your characters. This works especially well with animated characters, where it feels like you are getting in a video chat!
Voice chat works in Layla by first listening for your voice, then using speech-to-text technology to translate your voice into text, which feeds into the LLM. The LLM generates a response, and using text-to-speech, will read the response aloud. This all happens automatically in the background while the character's background image displays in the foreground.
How to enable Voice Chat in Layla
First, enable the Voice Chat app in Layla. (For more information on how to enable/disable mini-apps in Layla, see here: https://www.layla-network.ai/post/how-to-enable-disable-mini-apps-within-layla)

After enabling the voice chat app, you can start a conversation with any character. In this video, we start a conversation with the animated character Eleonora:
In the above video:
Start a "voice chat" by tapping the "Voice Chat" option in the menu at the top right
The screen will clear, and show the character foremost
Wait a few moments for the text-to-speech module to initialise
You can start speaking when the main button turns green
After you finish speaking, the AI will take some time to think
The voice will come back after a bit! Note the lips are moving in sync with the voice!
